Fresno 4, Las Vegas 3 (5-5)

Vegas fell short of a comeback in a day game, failing to score the tying run after scoring two in the eighth inning. Dilson Herrera in the leadoff spot went 2 for 5 with an RBI and is now batting .258. Brandon Nimmo hit in the 2nd spot, he had two walks and a hit in five plate appearances. Gavin Cecchini went 1 for 4 with a run and is batting .206 on the young year. On the pitching side, Stolmy Pimentel pitched 5.1 innings, giving up three runs on six hits, while striking out four.  Box Score

Akron 4, Binghamton 1 (5-4)

Dominic Smith homered, but Binghamton couldn’t muster more than four hits. Rainy Lara started the game and went 6.1 innings, giving up three runs on five hits, while striking out four. Luis Mateo came on for relief and went 1.2 innings, giving up a run on a hit, with a strikeout.

LJ Mazzilli went 0 for 4 with a strikeout in the leadoff spot, while hitting .212. Dominic Smith was the main star of an abysmal offensive showing, going 1 for 3 with the home run. Here you can watch the homerun.  Box Score

St. Lucie 9 (8-3), Brevard County 4

St. Lucie got revenge for Brevard County’s 13-0, two-hit onslaught yesterday with a 9-run, 16-hit performance. Every player on the team got a hit. Champ Stuart went 3 for 4, with a triple and stolen base. Luis Guillorme continues to recover with a 2 for 5 night. Shortstop Amed Rosario hit his third triple while going 1 for 5 and is now hitting .288. Wuilmer Becerra DH’d for a second straight game, returning from an injury, and has gone 2 for 4 with a walk and two runs batted in.

Casey Delgado got the win going 7.1 innings and giving up four runs while striking out five. Box Score

Columbia 13 (6-6), Charleston 1

Columbia bats finally woke up scoring eight in the 8th inning of this laugher, in which Joe Shaw started and dominated. Joe Shaw went 6 innings, giving up four hits, and striking out eight.

On the offensive side, Columbia took full advantage of Charleston’s pitching, as the Yankees Affiliate gave up 12 hits and 10 walks. Kevin Kaczmarski, out of the leadoff, walked 3 times and scored twice. David Thompson went 0-3 with two sac flies giving him a league leading 13 RBI but had his hitting streak snapped at 11 games.
