After a flurry of promotions throughout the Mets system and some 2026 draft picks making their debuts, this was a fun day to watch the Mets minor league offenses fire across the board.
Triple-A

The offense scored five runs on seven hits and three walks but it was not enough to overcome their pitching. Both Ronny Mauricio and Nick Morabito hit home runs and have looked good in Syracuse. Ryan Clifford meanwhile continues to both struggle and baffle. His contact rates have been passable this month while he is still hitting the ball hard, but the results are just not there.

It would be hard for Tobias Myers to have a worse outing. He has been mixed in July as the Mets seem to be stretching him out and today nothing went his way. He only ended up throwing 37 pitches, struggled to generate whiffs, and his velocity was down. It is possible the higher workload of the last month has gotten to him and he may need an extra day off. Matt Turner, Dan Hammer, and Nate Lavender combined for five innings and one earned run and all three should pitch innings in the majors in the second half.

Trey Snyder and Randy Guzman were recently promoted to Brooklyn, while Antonio Jimenez has found his way back after his demotion. Jacob Reimer continues to look good on his rehab progress. The offense played well overall but it was not enough to make up for the pitching struggles.

Daviel Hurtado had his first rough start in over a month and it was very rough. He could not find the zone and walked twice as many batters as he struck out. The rest of the pitchers largely struggled as well.

This was a game to showcase the new acquisitions for the Mets with Aiden Robbins making loud contact with his unorthodox swing and Cole Mathis drove in a run on a hard sac fly. Wyatt Vincent had a hard hit double in his first at bat in Low-A and Elian Peña had hard contact today as well. John Smith III was the true star this two home runs. Tayman, the Mets’ most recent 9th round pick, homered on the first pitch he saw as a pro.

Both Clay Holmes and Austin Warren made rehab starts in St. Lucie due to the weather up north and both looked good. Holmes velocity and movement was roughly in line with where he was before he got injured but he did not throw in the zone much. By throwing out of the zone he got a significant amount of chase. Austin Warren‘s spin rates were down a bit but that is not unexpected for a first rehab appearance. Overall he looked like he did before his injury.
DSL Mets Orange
DSL Arizona Red (25-17) 6, DSL Mets Orange (21-21) 5

- CF Jhonael Cuello: 1-for-3, 2B, RBI, BB
Wandy had a hard hit home run as part of the DSL Mets Orange ten hit and five run game but it was not enough to win the game. Sebastian Toro also hit a home run while Jose Padilla logged three hits.
- RHP Randy Guzman: 3.1 IP, 4 H, 4 ER, 2 BB, 1 K
Randy Guzman has looked good recently but struggled in this most recent start, which was also his longest in a month. While he was not officially the losing pitcher, he was largely responsible for this loss.
DSL Mets Blue
DSL Mets Blue (16-25) 5, DSL Tigers 1 (19-21) 4
- LF Jonnhan Sanchez: 2-for-2, 2 RBI
Seven hits and five walks was just enough to knock a win for DSL Mets Blue. Shortstop Dayron Oramas had a strong game logging two hits, including his first pro homer.
- RHP Jhoangel Marquez: 3.0 IP, 0 H, 1 ER, 2 BB, 3 K
While the pitching was not amazing, it was enough to log a win. Six pitchers combined for seven innings, Aurelvys Batista got the win and Randiel Vicente got the save.
