It was another big day for two of the New York Mets’ top prospects. First off, one of the organization’s top pitching prospects, Blade Tidwell, led Double-A Binghamton to a 4-2 victory. Shortly after, one of the team’s top-hitting prospects, Jett Williams, led High-A Brooklyn to a 5-3 win thanks to a great day at the plate. Coincidentally enough, each were called up to their respective teams very recently.

Tidwell, the former second-round pick by New York in 2022, turned in 7 2/3 solid frames against the New York Yankees’ Double-A affiliate. Across those 7 2/3 innings, the right-handed starter struck out seven and allowed only two runs. He was able to scatter six hits, and, what may be the most important part of his outing, he did not walk a single batter.

As mentioned, this was only Tidwell’s second start for the Rumble Ponies. Through two starts, he has thrown 11 2/3 innings allowing 10 hits and five runs (3.86 ERA). He has struck out nine. With High-A Brooklyn, Tidwell posted a 3.09 ERA with 112 strikeouts across 81 2/3 innings. He held opposing hitters to a measly .129 average against with the Cyclones.

Meanwhile, Jett Williams continued his scorching pace to begin his High-A career. In Wednesday’s contest, he went 2-for-4 with a home run and a double while driving in two runs. Through only 24 at-bats after his call-up, Williams owns a 1.000 OPS with a staggering .500 OBP. His first full professional season with the organization has been nothing short of spectacular.

In Baseball America’s updated prospect rankings, Tidwell is the Mets’ ninth-ranked prospect while Williams checks in at number four.

Honorable Mention

High-A Brooklyn starting pitcher Jordany Ventura turned in his second-straight terrific start. In the team’s 5-3 win on Wednesday, he threw 6 2/3 innings while striking out a career-high 10 batters. His previous career-high of nine was sent in his previous game.

Across his last two games: 14 IP, 3 H, 3 ER, 4 BB, 19 SO. He owns a 4.71 ERA across 80 1/3 innings pitched throughout the system so far this season.
