Las Vegas (24-10) 5, Sacramento 1

Darin Gorski had a 6.58 ERA and had not won a since April 16th but none of that mattered yesterday as he pitched 6 innings of one run ball and picked up his 3rd win of the season. Over his 6 innings Gorski allowed four hits and two walks while striking out five. Gorski helped himself at the dish to hitting his 3rd double of the year and scoring a run. Zack Thornton pitched a scoreless 7th and is holding righties to a .209 average on the season. John Church relieved Scott Rice (walked two in 0.1 IP) with two runners on, stranding them both. Church came back out for the 9th pitching a scoreless inning to pick up his first save of the year.

Eric Campbell was 3-4 with his 4th homerun, scored two runs while pumping his batting average up to a measly .457 in Vegas. Here is video of Soup’s HR. He now has 9 extra base hits in 46 at bats and a 12/9 BB/SO ratio. Kyle Johnson got the start in CF/leadoff with Darrell Ceciliani getting the day off and made the most of it collecting three hits and two RBI’s. Danny Muno had his 2nd straight multi-hit game with a two singles, run scored, and his 8th RBI. Box ScoreDuane Below (2-1, 1.56) will make his 2nd start for the 51’s when they take on Sacramento at 10:05 at Cashman Field looking for their 11th straight win at home.

Richmond 2, Binghamton (19-14) 1 F/10

The B’Mets had the bases loaded with one out in the top of the 10th but Jared King and Gavin Cecchini each grounded out to end the rally. Matt Koch gave up three straight singles to end the game in the bottom of the 10th after throwing a scoreless 9th. Gabriel Ynoa got the start and was cruising early needing only 57 pitches to get through the first 5 innings. He ran into some trouble in the 6th when he allowed two singles and a ground out put runners on 2nd and 3rd when he uncorked a wild pitch that let the Flying Squirrels tie the game at 1-1. Ynoa ended up pitching 7 innings allowing just the one run on three hits, two walks, while striking four and throwing 98 pitches (63 strikes). Dario Alvarez threw a scoreless 8th and now has 8 shutout appearances in a row that spans back to April 19th when he gave up three runs.

Brandon Nimmo reached base three times, two singles and a walk raising his slash line to .297/.372/.430 on the year. He is hitting .304/.385/.348 against lefties in 23 at bats but only hitting .226/.324/.226 in 31 at bats with runners in scoring position. Have to believe they we will see Nimmo promoted to Las Vegas in early June when Michael Conforto comes up to Binghamton. T.J. Rivera broke out of a little mini slump that had seen his average from .396 to .303 before collecting three singles and a walk last night. Aderlin Rodriguez was 1-3 with two walks and scored the only B’Mets run in the 4th inning. Aderlin now has a 7-game hit streak that has seen his average go from .188 to .229 in that span. Box ScoreBinghamton starts a home series against New Hampshire at 6:35 with Luis Cessa (3-1, 2.67) getting the start.

Tampa 6, St. Lucie (14-19) 4

The day after scoring 5 runs in the first inning the Mets came out firing again putting a 4 spot on the board in the first. Unfortunately they could muster up only three singles in the final 8 innings and never had another runner reach 3rd base. Dominic Smith was the offensive star for the 2nd straight day going 2-3 with his 3rd double, walk, run scored and his 8th RBI. Smith is now off the highway with his .205 average and continues his great defense turning a nice 3-6-3 DP in the 1st inning. Jeff McNeil collected two hits making it the 14th time this season he has had a multi-hit game. Michael Conforto was 1-4 with his 6th double and team leading 23rd RBI.

Marcos Molina was not sharp on the mound in his worst outing of the year that saw him give up six runs on eleven hits and a walk over 5.2 innings. Molina threw alot of sliders on the day and was getting hit hard the entire outing. He was generally in the 88-89 range with his fastball with a couple of 92’s mixed but also a couple in the 86-87 range. The bad outing ballooned the promising right handers’ ERA to 4.41 and the league average against him to .293 on the year. Julian Hilario and Robert Coles combined to pitch 3.1 innings of scoreless relief to give St. Lucie a chance to come back. Box ScoreLogan Taylor (0-2, 6.46) looks for his 1st win as the Mets host Tampa at 6:30 in the final game of the series.

Savannah had the day off and are back at it tonight as Brad Wieck (0-3, 4.13) goes for his 1st win at 7:05 Lexington.

In rehab news Bobby Parnell is scheduled to throw in the St. Lucie game tonight and then possibly head to Las Vegas.
