Noah Syndergaard made his long awaited season debut on Monday after being pushed back due to forearm stiffness. Las Vegas won 8-5 despite Noah struggling through four innings allowing 7 hits, 3 runs (2 earned) while walking 1 and striking out 2 and was taken out after throwing only 54 pitches (37 strikes). Thor topped out at 94 MPH while throwing very few breaking balls on the evening. Eric Campbell sustained his early season hot streak going 3-5 with a 2-run home run making him now 10-19 with 6 RBI so far. Rob Whalen made his St Lucie and was the tough luck loser as the Mets fell Brevard County in a 2-1 game. Whalen threw 6 innings, allowing 8 hits, one walk, 2 runs while he picked off two runners at 1st base. Jake Kuebler pitched two scoreless innings in relief striking out two batters, he is pitching in only his 3rd season after converting from being a 1B/3B in the Kansas City Royals system. St. Lucie only managed three hits with Amed Rosario going 1-3 with a 2B, Victor Cruzado was 1-3 with 2B, and Matt Oberste was 1-4 with an RBI triple. Savannah improved to 2-3 with a win over Rome in a 5 inning rain shortened game thanks to a bases clearing double by Jon Leroux in the top of the 5th inning. Martires Arias picked up the win going 5 innings allowing only 2 runs on 2 hits, walking 4 and striking out 6 on the night. The top 5 hitters in the Sand Gnats lineup John Mora, Luis Guillorme, Wuilmer Becerra, Leroux, and Tomas Nido combined for 7 of the teams 8 hits while scoring and knocking in all 5 of Savannah’s runs.
