Las Vegas (56-41) 4, Fresno 0

Matthew Bowman made an absolutely amazing start when you consider all the circumstances, pitching at Cashman Field against Fresno who had scored 13 runs off him in their previous two meetings this year. Bowman went the distance pitching a complete game shutout allowing only two hits and three walks while striking out six.

Bowman threw 114 pitches with 76 for strikes and got some help behind him the defense turning three inning ending double plays. Bowman was pounding the strike all night getting weak contact that produced a whopping 16 groundball outs. Matt moved his record to 7-10 on the year and lowered his ERA to 5.05, he is 5-4 with 3.61 ERA over last ten games. Here is video of the final out.

Brooks Conrad produced all the offense the 51’s would need going 4-4 and coming to bat in the 8th inning needing only a single for the cycle but he hit a double! Conrad his his 6th homerun of the season and knocked in two runs. Wilfredo Tovar was 3-4 while Zach Lutz went 2-4 with a run scored. Dilson Herrera was hitless for 2nd straight game but put down two sacrifice bunts. Box Score

Binghamton (51-43) 4, New Britain 1

Gabriel Ynoa was strong again pitching past the 6 inning for the 7th straight start and giving up 3 runs or less for 8th time in 9 starts. Ynoa went 7 innings giving up one run on five hits and a walk while striking out five hitters. On June 10th his ERA was 5.72 and after last night it is 3.70 for the season. Ynoa has been working on a curveball in side sessions and has been throwing a couple every start to give him a 4th pitch. Ynoa has now thrown 109.1 innings this year which is the 6th most in the Eastern League.

Dario Alvarez struck out the side in the 8th inning, he has been flat out dominant allowing only one hit in his last 10 games. He has struck out 41 hitters in 30.1 innings and is holding lefties to a .098 average, oh by the way he is on the 40-man roster. Paul Sewald made his return from getting the silver medal with Team USA in the Pan Am Game, he struck out the side to pick up his 15th save.

Binghamton scored all the runs they would need in the first inning getting three runs despite Gavin Cecchini and Michael Conforto not chipping into the rally. L.J. Mazzilli was 2-5 with his 12th double and a run scored, he has now reached base safely in 20 straight games. Cecchini was 2-5 with his 19th double and 42nd RBI, he had another hit and RBI stole from him in his 4th at bat when the center fielder made a great diving catch. Cecchini made his own great play diving for a groundball up the middle and gettting up to throw to first for the out just in time.

Brandon Nimmo went 1-3 with his 3rd triple, walked, scored a run, and hit one to wall in his final at bat that the right fielder made a leaping catch to take away another extra base hit. Here is video of the triple. Conforto had a rough night going 0-4 with a walk, he hit two infield pop-ups, a comebacker to the pitcher, and a shallow fly ball to the outfield. Box Score

Charlotte 12, St. Lucie (48-48) 0

Rough game for the Mets who gave up 20 hits including 12 runs in the first four innings and could only muster four hits on offense. Kevin McGowan got rocked going 3.2 innings giving up 12 runs on 14 hits erupting his ERA up to 5.23 for the season. Kelly Screst, David Roseboom, and Robert Coles did combine to throw 4.1 scoreless innings of relief.

The Florida State league leading hitter Jeff McNeil had half of the St. Lucie hits going 2-3 raising the batting average to .320 for the year. Phillip Evans was 1-3 with a walk extending his hitting streak to 9 games, he is 14-32 over that span. Dominic Smith went 0-4 lowering his batting average to .297 on the season. Jhoan Urena returned to lineup after missing two games and went 0-3 while Amed Rosario missed his 3rd straight game. Box Score.

West Virginia 5, Brooklyn (18-12) 3

Mets 2015 4th round pick David Thompson blasted a line drive solo shot to left field for his first professional homerun. He also singled with one out in the 9th inning to bring the tying run up to the plate, he has 7 hits in last six games after going hitless in the previous four. Jose Garcia went 3-4 with a double and a run scored while Michael Bernal was 2-3 with his 8th double and 13th RBI. Vinny Siena was 0-4, failing to reach base for just the third time in 29 games to start his career.

Blake Taylor made the start pitching two scoreless innings giving up a hit and walk. Taylor has now walked only three in 12 innings this season after walking 30 in 41 innings last year. Chris Flexen struggled in his Brooklyn debut going 3.1 innings allowing four runs on five hits and two walks. Box Score

Kingsport (13-13) 5, Pulaski 2

Patrick Mazeika was 2-3 with a walk, run scored, and a two-run double in the first innings. His 10 doubles rank him 2nd in Appalachian League, his 21 RBI are 2nd in the league as well. Dash Winningham was 2-4 with a double and scored a run, he is now hitting .286/.339/.510 for the season. Ivan Wilson was 0-4 with two strikeouts, he has 24 of them in 16 games and his hitting only .196.

Yoryi Nuez pitched 3.1 scoreless innings in relief with three strikeouts to pick up his 2nd win of the season. Box Score

GCL Mets (15-11) 2, GCL Nationals 1

Mets 11th round pick Jake Simon threw two scoreless innings in relief to get his first professional win. The 18-year old lefty now has 5 scoreless innings to start his career with five strikeouts.

Ali Sanchez was 1-4 with his 9th RBI, first stolen base, and had his 13th runner caught stealing against him in 19 tries. Box Score
