Binghamton 11, Portland 7 F/Suspended Game

Binghamton and the Sea Dogs resumed their rain delayed game from Monday and Gavin Cecchini made his return to the lineup in style going 1-4 with a walk,  three RBI’s, and scored two runs. Cecchini had been out been out since April 17th with a groin issue but looked great making some nice plays in the field coming in on softly hit balls. Jayce Boyd went 2-4 with a walk, his 6th double and scored twice and was nice enough to do an interview for me which will be up soon. Dustin Lawley reached base three times, stole two bases, hit a double, and came around to score three times. Brandon Nimmo was just getting a scheduled day off and played in the 2nd game. Matt Koch who was scheduled to start the game on Tuesday instead “started” the resumption of the delayed game and got his first win of the season throwing 4.2 innings in relief of original starter Seth Lugo who went 1.1 before the delay. Koch was the beneficiary of a lot of offense as he allowed four earned runs on nine base runners while striking out only two. Paul Sewald pitched three scoreless innings for the save letting only two hitters reach and struck out three. Sewald now has 12 scoreless on the year and was successful last night without hitting above 88 MPH with his fastball. Box Score

Cecchini finished 2-4 scoring two runs and line out that the 2B made a nice play on to rob him of a hit. He did however struggle a little in the field with two errors in the game, bobbling a ball and rushing a throw. Brandon Nimmo returned to the lineup and went 1-4 but popped out twice with runners in scoring position. Dustin Lawley finished off a great day hitting his 6th double and his 3rd homerun which was an absolute moonshot over the Maine Monster in left field. Reliever Jake Kuebler stepped up for the B’Mets starting and pitching 4 innings shutout ball giving up only one hit and one walk striking out one. None of the Sea Dogs hitters could square up Kuebler as he induced 9 groundball outs. Beck Wheeler got the win in relief pitching 1.2 giving up an unearned run while striking out three. Box Score. Jupiter 4, St. Lucie 1

It was a game that the Mets would soon like to forget as they had just as many errors on the night (4) as they had hits and starter Miller Diaz was wild hitting a batter, walking two, and throwing two wild pitches. Diaz took the loss allowing his first three runs of the year on five hits while he struck out three. The Mets 10th round pick last year Kelly Secrest threw a perfect inning relief striking out all three batters he faced. Jeff McNeil his hitting streak to eight games going 2-4 and is hitting .409 over his last ten games. Amed Rosario went 1-3 and scored the Mets only run on the night.
