Las Vegas (37-29) 10, Salt Lake 6

The 51’s were tied at 6-6 heading to the bottom of the 7th before Wilfredo Tovar, Johnny Monell and Kirk Nieuwenhuis each had RBI hits to cap the four run inning. Kirk was 2-4 with a RBI double in his return to the Mets system while playing center field and hitting 6th. T.J. Rivera had a big night going 3-4 with three doubles, RBI, and two runs scored while playing third base. Matt Reynolds had two hits including a solo homerun (4th) to get the 51’s on the board in the 1st inning that was absolutely crushed. Travis Taijeron also homered for his 12th of the year and his 5th in the last 9 games. Alex Castellanos, Monell, and Tovar each had two hits on the night as the 51’s collected 15 as a team.

Rainy Lara was promoted before the game to make his AAA debut after pitching the whole year at Binghamton going 4-2 with 3.57 ERA, 1.32 WHIP with a 41/15 SO/W ratio in AA. Lara struggled in his first start for the 51’s going 5 innings giving up six runs (five earned) on eight hits and two walks while striking out three. Cody Satterwhite and Chase Bradford each pitched two scoreless innings with Cody getting his 2nd win and Chase getting his 6th save of the year. Box Score

Steven Matz (6-4, 2.30) is on the mound today for Las Vegas as they take on Salt Lake looking for the sweep and their 7th straight win at 3:05 ET.

Binghamton (33-30), 6, Portland 1

After giving up a lead off homerun to Marco Hernandez Binghamton starter Gabriel Ynoa was in cruise control going 7 innings giving up just the one run on four hits and zero walks while striking out two. Ynoa retired 15 straight Sea Dogs hitters at one point and used his three pitches effectively to get weak contact after the 2nd inning. Ynoa picked up his 3rd win of the year lowering his ERA to 5.23 and his WHIP to 1.43. Dario Alvarez pitched a scoreless 8th inning walking one while striking out two. Julian Hilario pitched a much needed clean 9th inning, he has given up seven runs in 7.2 innings in AA so far this year after giving up only two in 10.2 innings in St. Lucie.

Gavin Cecchini got the Mets offense going with a line drive double down the left field line as the first batter of the game. He would come around to score on a two-out double by Brock Peterson to open the scoring, the Mets would a run in five of the first six innings. Here is video of the double. Cecchini would finish 1-5 while having a good day in the field making a couple of nice plays and looked good throwing the ball on target which has been a problem this year. Peterson finished 2-4 with two RBI, he is now hitting .364/.405/.576 with 13 RBI in 9 games. L.J. Mazzilli was 3-5 with a run scored and Michael Conforto was 1-5 having now reached base in all 15 games since being promoted. Eudy Pina was 2-4 with a homerun over the Maine Monster for his 2nd homerun in as many games after not hitting one in 49 games. Box Score

St. Lucie (34-31) 5, Clearwater 2

The game was scoreless going into the 3rd when Brandon Nimmo, Dominic Smith, Amed Rosario, and Matt Oberste all knocked in runs to give St. Lucie a 4-0 lead they would hold on to. Jeff McNeil was 3-5 scoring the Mets first run, hitting .333 and still leading the FSL in average. Nimmo was 1-4 with a RBI, walk, and a run scored while playing center for the 3rd straight game in St. Lucie. Smith was 1-4 with his 37th RBI of he year good for 3rd in the league. Rosario was 2-5 with his a RBI for the 2nd straight night, now has 17 RBI on the year but did commit three errors.

John Gant was the St. Lucie starter who was shutting down the Threshers through 5 innings before he hit a wall in the 6th giving up two runs and leaving with the bases loaded. Gant allowed two runs over his 5.2 innings giving up seven hits and two walks while recording five strikeouts. Edioglis Villasmil came in to limit the damage getting the last out in the 6th then pitching perfect 7th and 8th innings. Robert Coles pitched a clean 9th inning with a strikeout for his 2nd save lowering his ERA to 2.88 and the league average against him to .245. Box Score

St. Lucie takes on Clearwater today in a rare day game at 1:00 with Miller Diaz (4-4, 3.58) on the mound

Savannah (35-30) 6, Asheville 2

Casey Delgado made his 3rd start for Savannah and he did not disappoint holding a perfect game into the 5th inning before a lead off single broke it up. Casey pitched 7.2 innings giving up two runs on six hits while walking none and collected 10 strikeouts but failed to get his 4th win in as many appearances. Delgado has now thrown 24.2 innings with 26 strikeouts giving up just 19 hits and three walks since being signed by the Mets. James Duff got one out in the 8th inning to vulture his 2nd of the year. David Roseboom pitched a clean 9th inning, he hasn’t allowed a run since May 15th pitching 9.2 scoreless over that span.

The Sand Gnats were trailing 2-1 going into the 7th before Wuilmer Becerra singled to start the inning and Tomas Nido hit a RBI single to tie the game. The Gnats would then take the lead in the 8th behind RBI from Jon Leroux, Nido, and Jean Rodriguez. Luis Guillorme was 2-3 with two doubles, RBI, and scored a run raising his average to .306 on the year. Nido was 2-4 with two RBI giving him nine over his last 10 games including hitting .333 in that span. Eudor Garcia went 0-2 with two walks and scored a run, he hitting .301/.341/.444 on the year.
