Las Vegas (23-10) 12, Sacramento 8

Matthew Bowman made his return from a short stint on the DL and was not sharp as he lasted only 3 innings giving on five hits, four walks, HR, striking out only two. Bowman’s struggles put the 51’s in an early 5-0 hole heading into the bottom of the 3rd when they erupted for 8 runs in the inning and never relinquished the lead after. Logan Verrett came into pitch in the top of the 4th with the 8-5 lead and pitched 4 scoreless innings to pick up his 1st win in his 3nd appearance back in the Mets system. He allowed only 3 hits and struck out four hitters throwing 52 pitches (35 Strikes) including striking out a rehabbing Hunter Pence. Jack Leathersich threw a perfect 8th inning striking out one lowering his ERA to 1.59 and his WHIP to 0.71. Eric Campbell went 3-5 with a 2B(4th), HR (3rd), BB, 2 R’s, and knocked in three runs while hitting 4th and playing right field. Matt Reynolds busted am 0-8 span going 2-5, scoring a run  and picking up his 7th steal of the year. Darrell Ceciliani raised his average to .341 with his 7th multi-hit game in the last 10 while knocking in two (16), scoring a run, and hitting his 7th double. Binghamton (19-13) 4, Richmond 1

Rainy Lara continued his resurgent season picking up his 3rd win of the season going 5.2 innings of shutout baseball. Lara gave up four hits, two walks, struck out two and lowered his ERA to 2.51 allowing only 1 HR in 32.1 innings. Following  a rough outing that saw him lose his 16 inning scoreless streak Paul Sewald started a new one last night throwing 1.2 perfect innings. Jon Velasquez threw a perfect 9th with two K’s to pick up his 8th save in Binghamton and 10th overall. Jayce Boyd had three hits including two doubles (11), scored a run, and drove in his 13th run of the year. Brandon Nimmo went 1-4 with a single, walk, and 9th RBI of the season. Gavin Cecchini was 1-4 extended his hitting streak to 5 games with his 7th double of the year. Josh Rodriguez added his team leading 7th homerun with a two-run shot in the 4th inning. Box Score. St. Lucie (14-18) 12, Tampa 6

St. Lucie jumped out to an early lead scoring 5 runs in the first inning with the help of Dominic Smith who ended up going 3-5 with his 2nd 2B, scored three runs and knocked in four runners. The Mets scored 4 more in the bottom of the 8th to pad the lead and help snap a 6-game losing streak. During his modest 3-game hit streak Smith has raised his average from .143 to .187 on the year. Michael Conforto went 2-5 5th 2B, scored two runs, had two long fly ball outs, and made a spectacular diving catch in left field. Jeff McNeil had three hits and three runs scored while Maikis De La Cruz had three hits and knocked in two. Phillip Evans had his 2nd mult-hit game in a row to start his year after coming off the DL with two hits (2B) and drove in his first three runs of the year. Amed Rosario was 1-4 with his team leading 9th double and a walk. Miller Diaz picked up his first win of the year going 6 innings giving up three runs on five hits, two walks, and striking out four. Kyle Regnault struggled in 1.1 innings giving up three runs prompting Akeel Morris to come in and get the 5 out save to snap the Mets the losing streak. Hickory 9, Savannah (12-19) 5

The Sand Gnats had a 5-4 lead heading into the bottom of the 8th before Jimmy Duff and Ben Griset imploded to give up 5 runs with Duff getting his first loss of the year. Starter Corey Oswalt gave up four runs on six hits, two walks, two HR’s, and five K’s over 6 innings. Patrick Biondi had a great two game going 2-4 with two RBI’s and collecting two outfield assists while playing left field. Luis Guillorme hit lead off and collected two hits and his 15th RBI of the year. Catcher Tomas Nido went 2-3 with a walk and scored two runs to lift his season line to .275/.301/.413. Box Score. Savannah has the day off and will be back in action on Thursday with Brad Wieck (0-3, 4.13) on the hill.
