Las Vegas had the night off but they will be back at it tonight with Steven Matz (6-4, 1.94) on the hill against vs. Reno at 10:05. This game will be available via MiLB.tv, might be your last chance to catch Matz wearing a 51’s jersey.

Bowie 9, Binghamton (28-30) 4

In a game of spurts 12 of the games 13 runs were scored in three consecutive teams at bat with Binghamton getting all four of their runs in Top of 3rd and Bowie scoring four times in the 2nd and 3rd innings. Unfortunately Gabriel Ynoa continued what has been an awful year for himself lasting just 3 innings giving up eight runs on seven hits and a walk. He is now 2-5 with a 5.72 ERA and has already walked 18 in 56 innings after walking just 13 in 82 innings last year. Matt Koch followed with two scoreless innings of relief, he has now allowed only one run in 21 innings since being moved to the bullpen. His ERA overall is down to 2.95 with his WHIP at 1.13 while only walking four hitters in 42.2 innings all year. Adam Kolarek pitched the 6th inning striking out the three hitters he faced.

Michael Conforto was in the thick of the B’Mets four run rally hitting his 5th double to knock in Gavin Cecchini for his 9th RBI in 10 games for Binghamton. Conforto would score on Josh Rodrgiuez’s 2-run triple later in the inning. Everyone in the B’Mets lineup besides Dustin Lawley had a base hit but they couldn’t get the big hit going 3-14 with runners in scoring position. Conforto finished the game 1-3 with the RBI double, run scored, walking for the 10th time, and also stole his first base of the season. Conforto in 10 games with Binghamton is now hitting .382/.523/.676 while facing 7 lefty starting pitchers in that span. Cecchini was 2-5 with his 14th double and is now 7th in the Eastern League in hitting at .324 for the year. L.J. Mazzilli was 1-4 with his 2nd double while hitting in the 2nd spot for the 2nd straight game. Box Score

Binghamton finishes their series in Bowie tonight (thankfully because they offer no MiLB TV options) at 6:35 with Luis Cessa (4-4, 2.81) on the mound.

St. Lucie had their game postponed, it will be made up today as part of a doubleheader. The first game will be at 5:05 with John Gant (0-0, 1.93) facing off against former St. Johns basketball player Amir Garrett. In the 2nd game the Mets have Miller Diaz (4-3, 3.47) taking the mound.

Savannah (32-27) 8, West Virginia 6

The Sand Gnats were tied 1-1 heading into the top of the 3rd when the offense exploded for 7 runs in the inning with Wuilmer Becerra, Luis Guillorme, Jon Leroux, Tomas Nido, and Jean Rodriguez all knocking in runs. Becerra started the inning by striking out but reached base when the catcher couldn’t handle the pitch, he would come around to score the 1st run of the inning. Becerra would cap the rally off later in the inning with a 2-run single giving Savannah a 8-1 lead. It was his only hit in five at bats, he did steal his 7th base of the season as well. Luis Guillorme was 3-5 with two doubles, run scored, and two RBI’s giving him 26 on the year. All-Star Jonathan Johnson extended his hitting streak to 6-games going 1-3 with his 10th double, two walks, and scoring two runs too. Tomas Nido, John Mora, and Vicente Lupo all collected two hits on the night. Eudor Garcia followed up his monster night (2 HR’s, 4 RBI’s) by going 1-5 with a run scored.

Three weeks ago Casey Delgado was pitching in the Frontier League and now he is a perfect 3-0 in his first three affiliated ball appearances. Making his 2nd start Delgado was solid going 7 innings giving up three runs on six hits and zero walks while striking out five. In 17 innings for Savannah he has allowed just five runs on thirteen hits and three walks while striking out sixteen. I recently did an interview with Delgado and hope to have it up later today. Ricky Knapp followed him making things interesting by giving up two runs in the 8th then another in the 9th. All-Star David Roseboom came in with the tying run at the plate, he struck out the batter for the final out to pick up his 5th save. The Sand Gnats have now won 8 straight and are still tied for first place. Box Score

The Sand Gnats go for their 9th straight win with Martires Arias (3-3, 3.55) making the start.

DSL Twins 7, DSL Mets1 (5-5) 4 Box Score

DSL Mets2 (7-3) 4, DSL Red Sox2 3 Box Score

Mets $1 million bonus SS prospect Kenny Hernandez was 2-4, scored a run while picking up his first triple and RBI of his Mets career.

News and Notes

MLB Pipeline Top 100 prospects had two players recently graduate the list and the Mets SS prospect Amed Rosario slid into the #99 slot. These current rankings don’t use any up to the date stats, meaning this decision was made before Rosario playing well in St. Lucie while being only 19 years old. I have a feeling when the mid-season rankings come out he will be closer to the 70-75 range in all of baseball.
