Las Vegas 8, Reno 7

Rafael Montero got the win in his final start before he is scheduled to pitch against the Marlins on Tuesday. Montero went 5 innings allowing four runs on six hits, 0 walks, four strikeouts and added two hits and a RBI to help his own cause. Chasen Bradford pitched two scoreless innings to pick up his first save of the season. Bradford has yet to allow a run on the season over 8.2 innings to begin the season. The 51’s had the bats going last night collecting 16 hits, five walks and could have scored more if it wasn’t for going 3-17 with runners in scoring position. Travis Taijeron has shown of his power early on hitting his 5th homerun as part of a 3-5 and two RBI night. Johnny Monell now the full time catcher in AAA hit a homerun for the 2nd straight night and reached base four times last night (3 hits, BB). Dilson Herrera started his next multi-hit streak going 2-5 with a walk and his 3rd stolen base of the season. Brandon Allen, Kyle Johnson, and Wilfredo Tovar each had multi-hit games with both of Johnson’s hits being doubles. Shortstop Matt Reynolds had a rough night going 0-5 dropping his average under .300 and was one batter away from facing the pitcher Matt Reynolds. The Mets acquired catcher Dan Rohlfing from the Twins on Wednesday to booster their catching depth and he was assigned immediately to Las Vegas. Box Score Noah Syndergaard was scheduled to pitch today vs. Reno but was scratched because he is sick. Steven Matz will get the start as he will be on regular rest after piggybacking Montero on Sunday.

New Hampshire 5, Binghamton 4 F/10 innings

The B’Mets headed into the top of the 10th tied 3-3 but after scoring the go-ahead run on a balk closer Jon Velasquez got the first two quick outs. Jon then proceeded to give up three consecutive hits including a walk-off RBI single to end the game. Once again Mets starter Rainy Lara was on his A-game going 6 innings allowing only four base runners and struck out five lowering his ERA to 2.04 on the year. Paul Sewald pitch 1.2 scoreless in relief to stretch his streak to 8 innings, he has allowed only five base runners over that period. Binghamton was being no-hit by Fisher Cats started Michael Lee through 5 innings until Jairo Perez singled with one out in the 6th inning. Jayce Boyd was 2-4 with a two-run two out double improving his season line to .315/.339/.415. Brandon Nimmo went 1-3 with two walks while Jared King was 0-5 out of the leadoff spot and his now hitting .196. Gavin Cecchini continues to sit out with a groin injury. Fort Myers 4, St. Lucie 2

Champ Stuart had a great game going 2-4 with a leadoff homerun (2nd) and his 8th steal of the year. However, Marcos Molina couldn’t hold the early lead and took his 2nd loss lasting 5 innings giving up three runs (two earned) while striking out five batters. Michael Conforto was 1-4 with a single dropping his average to .339 and was also caught stealing for the first time. Maikis De La Cruz collected two hits, RBI, SB (2nd) boosting his slash line to .380/.404/.560 but has struck out 11 times in 50 at bats. Amed Rosario and Jhoan Urena combined to go 0-7 with 3 k’s and each had an error. Dom Smith continues to sit out with some sort of illness. Box Score

Charleston 13, Savannah 4 Completion of 4/19 Game

Savannah’s game against Charleston on 4/19 was suspended because of rain and what they started back up the pitching wasn’t any better with Josh Prevost, Gaither Bumgardner, and Carlos Valdez combined to give up 23 base runners and 13 earned runs. Wuilmer Beccera was the only Sand Gnat with two hits and John Mora reached base twice (1B,BB) knocking his 4th run of the season. Box Score

Charleston 4, Savannah 2 Game Two

The Charleston RiverDogs completed the one day sweep pushing Savannah to 5-9 to start the season. Lefty Brad Wieck started his 3rd game of the season going 6 innings allowing fours runs(three earned) but did strike out nine hitters on the night. Wuilmer Beccera had two hits including his 3rd HR of the season and has a .521 slugging percentage. Catcher Tomas Nido hit his 1st homerun of the season and has reached base in 6 of his last 8 starts. Luis Guillorme hit first again, went 2-4, and is now supporting a .400/.438/.467 line out of the leadoff spot.
