Las Vegas 7, Sacramento 4

Matt Reynolds hit a 3-run home run in the top of the 6th to give the Las Vegas 51’s a 4-2 lead and they went on to beat Sacramento 7-4. Reynolds finished 2-4 on the night and is now hitting 7-20 with five RBI over his last five games. Alex Castellanos was also 2-4 on the night and hit a 2-run homer in the 8th inning to extend the 51’s lead.

Dilson Herrera had his best night of the season collecting two hit, scoring a run, and stealing his first base of the year as well. Herrera is now 7-13 against lefties this year but 0-13 with a walk against right handed pitching. Darrell Ceciliani added two hits, two runs scored, double, and had an outfield assist. Darin Gorski picked up his 2nd win of the season allowing two runs in five innings. Hansel Robles extended his scoreless streak to 5.2 after striking out four in 1.2 innings last night. Box Score. Binghamton 9, Harrisburg 3

In their home opener Binghamton improved their record to 5-3 after knocking out nine runs on seventeen hits to beat the Harrisburg Senators 9-3. Rainy Lara wasn’t as sharp this outing but still managed to pick up his 2nd win pitching 5 innings and giving up three runs while striking out two. Chase Huchingson, Paul Sewald, and Jon Velasquez combined to pitch four scoreless innings in relief allowing only three baserunners and striking out five.

The big story of the night was the B’Mets bats which were led by T.J. Hitman Rivera who was 4-4 with thee runs scored and three RBI’s. Rivera is now hitting a cool .500 (14-28) on the season and wouldn’t be surprised to see him get promoted soon to fill the Muno/Soup vacancy in Vegas. Brandon Nimmo was 2-5 with a run scored and a double to extend his hitting streak to five games. Gavin Cecchini stayed hot going 2-4 with a double while Jayce Boyd went 3-4 with a walk playing LF again. Journeyman Josh Rodriguez hit his first homerun of the season. Box score. St. Lucie 14, Brevard County 6

The St. Lucie bats stole the headlines with a 14-6 win in a game that both Vic Black and Bobby Parnell made their 2nd appearances. Black threw a clean inning while Parnell struggled a little giving up two runs but most importantly they both finished healthy. Parnell was throwing his fastball in the 89-92 MPH throughout the inning with his fastest pitch at 93 being his last of the night.

The Mets had 18 hits on the night and everyone in the lineup had one with Dominic Smith collecting three of his own and knocked in three runs. Michael Conforto also knocked in three runs with two hits (1B,2B) raising his slash line to .321/.429/.607. Champ Stuart scored four times on the night thanks to two hits, walk, and his 6th and 7th stolen bases of the year. Amed Rosario had two hits, Jhoan Urena had two RBI’s, and catcher Colton Plaia had three hits with two of them being doubles. Jake Kuebler picked up his 2nd win in relief pitching 2.1 scoreless. Savannah 8, Charleston 3

To complete the sweep for Mets affiliates the Savannah Sand Gnats beat Charleston 8-3 behind homeruns from Stefan Sabol(2), Pedro Perez(1), and Wuilmer Becerra(2). Becerra also stole his 3rd base of the season and now has line of .269/.321/.577 early on. John Mora was 2-4 with his first stolen base of the season and has now reached base in all six games sporting a .500 OBP. Corey Oswalt pitch five innings giving up three runs and striking out five to pick up his first full season win. Carlos Valdez, Cameron Griffin, and David Roseboom combined to pitch four scoreless innings to close the game out. Box Score.
