Las Vegas (46-35) 12, Tacoma 2

The 51’s offense started off with a bang thanks to the power of Kirk Nieuwenhuis who hit a 3-run shot and Brandon Allen who had a 2-run shot in the first inning. Alex Castellanos provided some more power with his 13th homerun of the year in the 3rd inning. Kirk finished 2-3 with a walk, four RBI, two runs scored and the homer which was in 7th in 13 games for Las Vegas. Here is video of the HR.

Allen was 2-4 with a walk and two runs scored while the homerun was his 8th of the year, the two RBI gave him 39. Castellanos collected three hits, three runs scored, stole his 5th base and hit his league leading 28th double of the year. Matt Reynolds was was 1-5 with a run scored as he DHed again, he is said to be nursing a sore elbow which is the reason for the missed games and not playing defense. Dilson Herrera was 1-6 with a RBI and a run scored in his return the the Las Vegas lineup.

Darin Gorski picked up his 6th win of the year with a solid 7-inning performance allowing two runs on seven hits while striking out three. Jenrry Mejia made his 2nd appearance with Las Vegas pitching a perfect 9th inning with one strikeout, he is eligible to return on July 7th. Box Score

Binghamton (40-38) 5, Erie 0

Gabriel Ynoa became just the 4th pitcher in Binghamton Mets history to throw a solo 9-inning one-hitter last night when he faced two batters over the minimum. Ynoa was untouchable besides a double in the 3rd inning and a Gavin Cecchini error in the 7th. He threw a measly 103 pitches (76 strikes) working the corners of the plate efficiently producing a lot of weak contact from the Sea Wolves hitters and striking out six. Here is video of the last out.

It was also Gabriels’ 2nd straight complete game after throwing 8 innings of one-run ball but receiving the loss in his last outing. Over his last four starts Ynoa has pitched 30.2 innings allowing 17 hits while holding the opponents to a .426 OPS including just two walks. He is now 5-5 on the year with a 4.12 ERA and a 1.21 WHIP. Earlier in the season his slider or lack thereof a slider was big issue, last night he seemed to be throwing a breaking ball that was more like a curveball. Whatever the new pitch is it was working getting numerous called strikes early in the game.

Cecchini was added to the Eastern League All-Star game roster earlier in the day and celebrated by going 1-4 with a walk and two runs scored. Michael Conforto was 1-4 with a two-out two-run single giving him 18 RBI for Binghamton and extending his hitting streak to five games. L.J. Mazzilli and Josh Rodriguez each had two hits including a double while Brandon Nimmo was 1-4. Everyone in the Mets lineup had atleast one hit with Aderlin Rodriguez having the biggest with a two-run homer in the 2nd inning for his 8th of the year. Box Score

Jupiter 10, St. Lucie (39-39) 4

Logan Taylor had a rough outing for St. Lucie going 4.1 innings giving up seven runs on twelve hits (2 HR’s) and a walk while striking out three. Taylor fell to 2-6 on the year and saw his ERA boost up to 5.07 on the year. Coming into last night lefty David Roseboom has made 42 pro appearances and pitched 56.2 innings without giving up a homerun, that streak came to an end in the when Cameron Flynn took him deep for his first homerun (3-run) of the year in 45 games. Mike Hepple threw two scoreless while Kelly Secrest pitched a scoreless 8th inning for the Mets.

Dominic Smith led the offense going 2-5 with his 48th RBI of the year which is 2nd in the Florida State League. Smith has hit .378/.417/.589 with runners in scoring position this year. Victor Cruzado also had two hits including his 2nd homerun of the year and first one out of the park. Jeff McNeil started his 2nd straight game at SS going 1-5 with a run scored, he has hit safely in 9 of 10 and still leads league in hitting at .331. Haven’t heard anything on why Amed Rosario has received the last two games off, my guess would be a breather for the young player. Box Score

Savannah game vs. Augusta was postponed

Thompson extended his hitting streak to six games but had his five game RBI streak snapped, he is hitting .375 pro career. Vincent Siena was 1-3 with a walk and his 2nd stolen base of the year, he has hit safely in 11 of 12 career games.

Christian Montgomery pitched a scoreless 7th with three strikeouts to pick up his first win of the year, he has been flat dominant allowing just three baserunners in 5.1 innings with nine strikeouts. GCL Mets (5-4) 2, GCL Nationals 0

For the third straight game catching prospect Ali Sanchez collected three hits including his first double of the year. He also scored a run, knocked in his 4th run, and threw out both runners that tried to steal. He has now allowed just one successfully stolen base in seven attempts. Outfield prospect Ivan Wilson made his season debut last night and looked like the same hitter as last year receiving the golden sombrero in his four at bats.

The Mets 2015 third round pick Max Wotell made his professional debut yesterday and was pretty good striking out the side on 11 pitches. Jeff Walters made his 5th rehab appearance pitching a perfect inning with two strikeouts, time for him to move up. Ronald Guedez made his 2nd start in the GCL league after beginning the year in the DSL, he went 6 scoreless innings giving up three hits and a walk while striking out one. Box Score
