Young tossed six shutout innings today for Triple-A Buffalo.

I haven’t talked minors in a bit so let me ramble off a few thoughts and a few factoids I’ve picked up from the beat writers and affiliates.

Lets start with this little tidbit from the Buffalo Bisons who say that after one week of All-Star voting, Matt Harvey leads all Starting Pitchers in votes and that recently promoted Omar Quintanilla leads all Shortstops. Very cool indeed, and honestly, I did not know that they voted for starting pitchers in the minors for All Star games… That’s why we keep Petey Pete around, lol.

Okay so how many of you tuned in to watch the Buffalo Bisons at 10:35 AM like we told you the last two days? Hmm, you forgot huh? You might still be able to catch the last couple of innings, but I wanted to give you an update on how Chris Young did. In a word, stupendous! His final line was no earned runs allowed in six innings pitched. Young gave up just two hits, walked three and struck out two, and he threw 50 of his 87 pitches for strikes. His fastball topped out at 84 MPH according to our buddy Ben Wagner, but that’s exactly where his FB ranged when he was pitching spectacularly for the Mets last April. He’s coming along very nicely and could be here sooner than many of us thought… Maybe even by next week… Why not?

Speaking of fantastical performances, lets not forget Jenrry Mejia who was absolutely solid last night allowing just two hits in six innings. Unfortunately one of those hits was a home run, but hey this kid has worked his tail off to get back and he’ll soon be playing at a Mets bullpen near you.

Okay, I really don’t want to jinx Bisons reliever Elvin Ramirez who is now 3-0 since his promotion to the Herd. But in 14.2 innings pitched so far, Ramirez has yet to allow a run and has limited batters to just five hits, one walk and an amazing 19 strikeouts. Stick your tongues back in your mouths…

Zack Wheeler turned 22-years old yesterday, did you remember to send him your birthday wishes? I’m looking at you Alex68…

Have a great day everybody, I gotta go… I’m working on a Daniel Murphy for All Star Starting Second Baseman campaign with Jessep, that we shall unveil later today!
