Each week I will recap the Mets Minor Leagues and give you a rundown on their games, highlights, and any significant player news, injuries or promotions. It will be posted in two parts with the first part encompassing the high minors and the second part, the low minors. AAA – New Orleans Zephyrs (26-29)

5/28 – The Zephyrs faced the Omaha Royals on Monday, but fell 8-3. Chip Ambres (LF) was the hot bat for the Zephyrs. Ambres went 2-for-4 with a solo home run in the 7th inning. Ricky Ledee (RF) went 2-for-3 with a run scored. Mike Pelfrey (0-1) got the loss in only 3.2 innings pitched. Pelfrey gave up five runs, four earned, on seven hits. He also walked two and struck out one man.

5/29 – The game against the Colorado Springs Sky Sox was postponed due to rained.

5/30 – Zephyrs had a doubleheader and came out with positive results. They swept the double header against the Sky Sox, 5-2 and 7-3.

In the first game, the Zephyrs got some help from their second baseman Jake Gautreau. Gautreau went 2-for-3 with a solo HR and a double while driving in two. Chip Ambres (LF) went 2-for-3 with two doubles and a run scored. Zephyrs received a solid pitching performance from Philip Humber (5-4). Humber pitched six innings, allowing two runs on ten hits, while striking out seven. Humber had terrific control as he did not walk any batters. Ivan Maldonado got his fifth save for the season, pitching a hitless inning.

The second game started off well for the Zephyrs. Jake Gautreau (2B) hit another home run, his second of the season. Andy Tracy (1B) also hit a home run, it was the 13th of the season for Tracy. Ricky Ledee (RF/PH) had a pinch hit two-run home run. Jason Vargas (3-3) pitched well in the win. Vargas went six innings allowing three runs while striking out five.

5/31 – After a doubleheader sweep against the Sky Sox, the Zephyrs looked to take the third game but fell short 8-5. Chip Ambres (LF) hit a two-run home run in fifth inning. This home run was the eighth of the year for Ambres. Adam Bostick (2-4) got hit hard early in the loss. Bostick only pitched 2.2 innings and gave up five runs on seven hits. Bostick struck out four and walked two.

6/1 – The game against the Sky Sox started off smoothly, but it turned for the worst in the fourth inning. It went downhill from there as the Zephyrs lost 12-5. Anderson Hernandez (SS) was hot at the plate. Hernandez went 4-for-5 with a double and two RBIs. Jake Gautreau (2B) went 2-for-4 with a double and a run scored. Brian Lawrence (1-3) got roughed up in his start. Errors and bad pitching led to a 7-3 deficit in the fourth inning. Lawrence went four innings, allowing seven runs, five earned, on nine hits. Lawrence struck out two and allowed one walk.

AA – Binghamton Mets (24-26)

5/28 – The Mets tried to rebound after losing the first game after a seven game win streak, but they fell short to the Fisher Cats, 9-6. Miguel Negron (DH) went 2-for-3 with a two-run home run and a double. Fernando Martinez (CF) went 0-for-2 but drew three walks. Marcos Carvajal (1-3) got the loss, but wasn’t horrible. Carvajal went four innings allowing three runs, one earned, on five hits. Carvajal walked four, but struck out five.

5/29 – After a tough lost against the Fisher Cats, the Mets came back in a big way, winning 12-4. Caleb Stewart (RF) had a big day at the plate. Stewart went 4-for-4 with a two-run home run and three runs scored. Jose Coronado (SS) went 1-for-4 with a double and four RBIs. Wilson Batista (2B) went 1-for-5 with a two-run home run. Salvador Aguilar (2-1) had a strong game for the win. Aguilar pitched six innings, allowing only three runs to score, one earned, on seven hits.

5/30 – Mets had another big offensive day defeating the New Britain Rock Cats defeating them 9-2. Caleb Stewart (RF) went 1-for-4 with two RBIs and a double. Fernando Martinez (CF) went 2-for-5 with a RBI. Kevin Mulvey (5-4) pitched a great game for the win. Mulvey went seven innings allowing two runs, one earned, and four hits. Mulvey also struck out five.

5/31 – Sweeping teams aren’t easy, and the Rock Cats avoided that shouting out the Mets, 7-0. There were only two hits for the Mets, and those hits came from one guy. Mike Nickeas (C) had the only hits for the Mets, a single and a double. Michael Devaney (2-5) got the loss in only an inning work.

6/1 – After taking two out of three from the Rock Cats, the Met defeated the Erie SeaWolves, 8-7. Mark Kiger (3B) went 2-for-4 with a solo home run that seemed to be the game winner in the 8th inning. Brett Harper (1B) went 2-for-4 with two RBIs. Jose Sanchez got the start and was not sharp. Sanchez went five innings allowing six runs on five hits, he also struck out seven. Tim McNab (5-0) got the win in relief.
