According to Mike Puma of the NY Post, the Mets’ sense at the moment is that they won’t be making any deals prior to today’s non-waiver trade deadline.
As of yesterday, the team was all but sold on keeping righty Zack Wheeler. As Buster Olney of ESPN reported, the Mets intend to contend next year, and will need to round out their rotation, and it looks like Zack Wheeler will be part of it.”
If not moved today, the team could still likely get a deal done for veteran guys on expiring deals like Devin Mesoraco, Jose Bautista, and Jerry Blevins amongst in August as they would likely clear waivers.
