Eddie Kranepool talks to MMO's Lenore Luca

New York Mets legend Ed Kranepool is in need of a kidney transplant and recently had one of his toes amputated according to a story by Christian Red of the New York Daily News.

Kranepool, 72, was part of the Miracle Mets team that won the World Series in 1969, was inducted to the Mets Hall of Fame in 1990 and holds the franchise record for most games played with 1853.

The former first baseman had his left big toe amputated on Wednesday after an infection that started last summer. Kranepool has also experienced kidney failure and is on the kidney transplant list at Stony Brook University Hospital in New York.

Kranepool will be putting his 1969 World Series ring up for auction along with some of his other memorabilia to help with his extensive medical bills.
