The Mets have added one of their top pitching prospect to their spring training roster.

Tim Healey of Newsday reports that New York has added right-hander J.T. Ginn to their spring roster, which now stands at 73 after they also signed catcher Caleb Joseph to a minor league pact earlier this week.

Ginn, 21, was selected by the Mets in the second round of the 2020 MLB draft out of Mississippi State University, after originally being a first round pick of the Los Angeles Dodgers in 2018.

The Mississippi native pitched in 17 games for MSU in 2019 and logged a 3.13 ERA, 1.054 WHIP and struck out 105 batters in 86.1 innings pitched.

Ginn is recovering from Tommy John surgery that he underwent just under a year ago, but still managed to receive a $2.9 million bonus, which was nearly double the slot value for the No. 52 overall draft pick.

Ginn is ranked as the No. 6 Mets prospect by MLB Pipeline.
