It was reported earlier today that the Mets are finalizing a two-year deal with Pat Roessler, presumably to be the Mets next hitting coach. However, the pitching coach position remains up for grabs.

Mike Puma of the New York Post tweeted Wednesday that the Mets have interviewed three men for the job thus far: Minor league pitching coordinator Ron Romanick, former Cleveland Indians bullpen coach Jason Bere and former Oakland Athletics pitching coach Curt Young.

Puma also added that former Kansas City Royals pitching coach Dave Eiland is not a candidate for the job.

Romanick, 57 next week, pitched for three seasons in the majors, all with the then-California Angels. He compiled a 31-29 record, with a 4.24 ERA, 4.61 FIP, 1.395 WHIP and was good for 3.8 WAR in 82 starts.

He was formerly the Oakland Athletics pitching coach during the 2010 season and has been with the Mets in his current role since 2011.

The 46-year-old Bere stepped down from his role as bullpen coach with the Cleveland Indians last month after he was not considered for the team’s role of pitching coach. He served in his role with the Indians from 2015-17.

Curt Young served as the Oakland Athletics pitching coach from 2004-10 and again from 2012-17. In between he served in the same capacity with the Boston Red Sox. He was relieved of his duties with the A’s on June 15 of this year.
