According to Jon Heyman of FanRag, the Mets have agreed to terms with first round pick Jarred Kelenic. FanRag‘s Robert Murray adds that he is likely to receive a bonus of around $5 million.
Kelenic, 18, was considered the top high school hitting prospect in this year’s draft.
An outfielder from Waukesha West High School in Wisconsin, scouts say he doesn’t have one attribute that really supersedes the rest, but that isn’t a bad thing. He is well-rounded and prpjects as a five-tool player.
Kelenic has played mostly center field, but in the long run, a move to a corner outfield position seems more likely.

With Kelenic signing for under the $5.5 million pool space that comes with the No. 6 overall selection, the team will now have some extra cash to invest in signing other players.
