The New York Mets have suffered a slew of bumps, pulls, strains and bruises in the past two days.

And now, the Amazins’ will likely be without Brandon Nimmo and J.D. Davis on Sunday after both players were forced to exit last night’s game with injuries.

Davis already endured a stint on the injured list in early April after getting hit on the hand by a pitch. This time, it’s his middle finger that got caught on a swing.

As Davis told reporters prior to Sunday’s game, his finger is sore today, but has not worsened since Saturday and he has more movement as opposed to his previous injury.

At the moment, Davis is unsure if the recovery will require another trip to the 10-day I.L. He is receiving treatment and taking anti-inflammatory drugs, but admitted that he is unable to fully swing the bat at 100%.

As for Nimmo, he is dealing with a bone bruise on his left index finger after getting jammed by Phillies pitcher Chase Anderson last night.

“In my last at-bat, it felt like my hand exploded. Unfortunately, this is just something we are going to have to wait out.”said Nimmo.

According to Nimmo, he is able to run and throw, but cannot grip a bat. The good news is, Nimmo does not believe this will snow ball into a long-term issue.

For now, both players are considered day-to-day.

Manager Luis Rojas told reporters that they are in wait-and-see mode regarding the availability of Davis and Nimmo for tonight’s game.

When asked if he thought either of them were at risk of landing on the I.L., Rojas was pretty optimistic.

“Our medical staff feels pretty good about it. They are getting treatment this afternoon. We are optimistic that both won’t land there (IL). Nimmo is a little swollen,” said Rojas.

With Davis out, Jonathan Villar is starting at third base, as Luis Guillorme landed on the I.L. on Friday with an oblique injury. Rojas feels good about Guillorme’s recovery given the way he has been moving around and hopes they can get him back when he is eligible to return at the end of his 10 day stint.

Pitcher Marcus Stroman is also dealing with hamstring tightness, which forced him out of his last start on Friday night. Luckily, Rojas had some good news to share on that front.

Stroman is moving around “really well,” per Rojas. The right-hander has repeatedly told the manager that he plans on making his next start. Stroman is scheduled to pitch on Wednesday when the Mets head to St. Louis to take on the Cardinals.

The Mets bullpen has been dominant having not allowed a run in their last 19 innings. Rojas praised this group and is excited to see what they do once Seth Lugo (elbow) returns from the I.L.

According to Rojas, Lugo is throwing bullpen sessions and the expectation is that he will be back with the big league club by the end of May.
