lucas duda

Adam Rubin is reporting that Mets first baseman Lucas Duda will not make his Grapefruit League debut on Friday as previously reported, but will make his debut on Sunday against the Rays. Duda has been out with an oblique strain, but he has been participating in batting practice since Monday.

Bobby Parnell, who strained his left hamstring during fielding practice about a week ago, could be ready for game action in 3-4 days according to pitching coach Dan Warthen. Parnell was initially slated to pitch Wednesday in his first game action since Tommy John surgery. He has been playing catch, Warthen added.

Outfield prospect Brandon Nimmo, who has been out with a jammed left thumb, took some dry swings (non contact) on Wednesday. Nimmo has not appeared in a Grapefruit League game in seven days and no word yet on when he’ll return to game action.

Washington Nationals pitcher Stephen Strasburg will miss his scheduled spring training start against Jacob deGrom and the New York Mets on Thursday because of an ingrown toenail. Right-handler A.J. Cole will get the start instead. What a wimp. 🙂
