While speaking with Jim Bowden of SiriusXM on Tuesday evening, New York Mets general manager Brodie Van Wagenen gave some insight as to where the Mets stand on one of the more intriguing outfield options in free agency, A.J. Pollock.

According to Bowden, Van Wagenen confirmed that the team has “been in touch with the agent for [Pollock]”, adding that the Mets felt the 30-year-old center fielder is “a good fit on their team and they will continue their pursuit.

Pollock spent the first seven years of his MLB career with the Arizona Diamondbacks after being drafted seventeenth overall by the organization in the 2009 amateur draft.

The Hebron, Connecticut native has a .281/.338/.467 career slash line with 162-game averages of 19 home runs, 67 runs batted in, 37 doubles, and seven triples. Pollock hit .257/.316/.484 with 21 homers and 65 RBI (106 OPS+) in 113 games last season (460 plate appearances).

Spotrac estimates Pollock’s value on the open market will earn him a three-year, $33 million deal this offseason. He made $7.75 million in his final arbitration-eligible season for the D-Backs in 2018.
