The Mets have not moved past any of the preliminary dialog with both David Wright and R.A. Dickey about potential contract extensions for both, according to Andy Martino of the Daily News.

They have yet to even broach the subject of  years and dollars with either player, and any discussions have been casual and preliminary and they have not advanced into anything substantive.

As has been widely reported, both players have team options for 2013. Sandy Alderson said emphatically last month, that those options are locked in and will be exercised and are already considered part of the overall 2013 budget.

“Anything we do with them, will not effect 2013, only 2014 and beyond.”

You can expect both options to be picked up soon after the World Series ends, and we’ll see where this ultimately ends up for both players.

As for the team source that told Mike Puma of the New York Post said it was possible the Mets could have new deals for both Dickey and Wright before the start of the World Series, there’s one thing we now know is not happening.

Last night on Metsmerized Radio, the topic of Sandy Alderson was discussed for most of the show. His tactics and the current culture surrounding the team were strongly debated as was the feeling by fans and players that things have not progressed as well as anyone expected.

I think you’ll enjoy what was said, and you can listen to the show by clocking here or pressing play on our Metsmerized Radio Player located at the bottom of this site. I believe you’ll find this to be one of our most provocative shows yet.
