Jeff Passan of ESPN reports that the New York Mets are among the teams pursuing “rising star” pitching coach, Chris Fetter.

The New York Yankees have also reportedly interviewed the 33-year-old for their pitching coach vacancy. Fetter has been serving as the University of Michigan’s pitching coach since 2017.

Prior to that, he was the minor league pitching coordinator for the Los Angeles Dodgers for six months and also was a scout for the Los Angeles Angels, as detailed by Justin Terranova of the New York Post.

In 2009, the San Diego Padres drafted Fetter in the ninth round of the MLB Draft. He registered a 3.56 ERA and 1.33 WHIP over four minor league seasons.

The role that the Mets would want Fetter to have with the organization remains to be seen, but with Phil Regan‘s future with the team up in the air, it would make sense for the team to consider possible alternatives.
