Andy Martino just reported via twitter that the Mets and Jacob deGrom have agreed to a five-year extension on his contract. The two sides have been talking throughout the offseason, with a series of ups and downs.

Our own Michael Mayer reported last night that on twitter that the conversations were moving in a positive direction.

Ken Rosenthal reported that the contract is worth 137.5 million dollars over the course of five years through 2023. There is an opt-out in the contract after the 2022 season, and a team option for 2024. The deal is pending physical and does include deferrals.

Rosenthal also reports that the deal includes a full no-trade clause.

Here’s the breakdown of the deal:

2019: $7 million (plus $10 million signing bonus)
2020: $23 millioin
2021: $33.5 million
2022: $33.5 million (opt-out after this season)
2023: $30.5 million
2024: Club option for $32.5 million

DeGrom is coming off a Cy Young Award winning season in which he pitched to a sub-2.00 ERA. The Mets fan base has strongly supported such a move, and even teammates like Noah Syndergaard took to a public platform regarding a deGrom extension.

The move happened just two days before the start of the regular season, which was deGrom’s deadline for extension talks.
