Game Notes

RA Dickey was asked about by other teams earlier this season, but the Mets said he’s off the table. Good thing, because he was impressive tonight. Going into the seventh inning with no runs given up until the sixth and seventh inning. Going 6.2 innings giving up eight hits, but getting out of jams with only two runs given up and one walk. Dickey continues to be a strong strikeout pitcher with 7 Ks tonight. Dickey kept his pitch count lower than normal with 86 and lowered his ERA to 3.74.

Bullpen has been a blow up this season. Beato walked his only batter on four pitches. Tim Byrdak struck out his only batter he faced. Bobby Parnell pulled himself together with a hitless inning with one walk and one K. Izzy recorded his 296th career save after a hair-pulling, heart stopping ninth inning.

Mets offense was getting hits, but not too many runs. Eleven collected hits but only four touching home base.

Jose Reyes had one hit and a run scored. Now hitting .351. Turner had two hits and a run. Beltran had no hits but an RBI and a walk. Wright continues to be hot with the bat since returning, getting two hits and a run, but not so much defensively with his third error in four games since returning from the DL.. Murphy had two hits with two doubles and two RBIs.
