New York Mets’ majority owner Steve Cohen continues his debunking of erroneous reports on Twitter.

On Sunday, Joe Pantorno of amNewYork published an article that claimed Mets’ team president Sandy Alderson and manager Luis Rojas will be on a “short leash” in 2021.

“Everyone is on a short leash under the new regime,” Pantorno’s source said. “It’s just how it goes. Even Sandy, to be honest. I don’t think these folks know who they’re dealing with.”

Cohen, however, was quick to dispel the rumor.

“Another made up story,” Cohen said. “I’m thankful Sandy is here to guide me.”

Throughout the sale of the Mets, and as the hands have changed from the Wilpon family to Cohen, Pantorno has been at the forefront of reporting news and updates. When Cohen responded, he was quick to update his story.

Cohen later responded to a tweet which asked when the team will be hiring a President of Baseball Operations and General Manager.

We are doing the work now,” Cohen said. “These decisions take time.”

On Friday, Cohen disputed a claim from Andy Martino of SNY and Jon Morosi of MLB Network that Cleveland Indians’ general manager Mike Chernoff was a candidate to join the Mets’ front office.

“Not that I’m aware of,” Cohen said. “Wrong again.”

Apart from Chernoff being out of contention, Milwaukee Brewers President of Baseball Operations, David Stearns, was not allowed to interview with the Mets, and Tampa Bay Rays Senior Vice President of Baseball Operations and General Manager Erik Neander declined an interview.

Former Miami Marlins President of Baseball Operations, Michael Hill, interviewed with the team for a front office position, and Rays’ Special Assistant to the General Manager, Bobby Heck, is seen as a potential candidate to join the front office. Oakland Athletics’ General Manager, David Forst, has also been mentioned for a possible front office position.
