MLB Network finished off their Top 100 Right Now countdown on Thursday night with the 10 best players on their list. Among them, Mets ace Jacob deGrom, at No.3, right behind Mookie Betts at No. 2 and Mike Trout leading the way.

DeGrom was the only pitcher in the top 10, the second highest ranking hurler was the Yankees’ Gerrit Cole at No. 11. MLB Network had Cole ranked seventh and deGrom eighth going into the 2020 season.

Four of the top seven players play in the National League East: deGrom at No. 3, Braves’ Freddie Freeman at No.4, Nationals’ Juan Soto at No.5, and Braves’ Ronald Acuna Jr. at No.7.

The Dodgers and White Sox tied for the most players on the list with nine, though all of LA’s players were in the top 50 of the list. Next up is both the Mets and Yankees with seven players in the Top 100 Right Now.

Let’s take a look at where the seven Mets players ranked:

3. Jacob deGrom
15. Francisco Lindor
34. Michael Conforto
35. Jeff McNeil
66. Pete Alonso
67. Dominic Smith
89. Brandon Nimmo

Of course, these lists don’t mean a ton when it’s time to take the field, but it does show that the Mets have a strong nucleus of talent. Add in guys like Noah Syndergaard, Marcus Stroman, Carlos Carrasco, and James McCann, and the Mets look like one of the best teams in the National League.
