Buffalo Bisons 15 | Indianapolis Indians 2

With performances like this it was just a matter of time before Lucas Duda got the call up. He put up another outstanding performance scoring three runs with two walks and a homerun. He is punishing pitchers. The Indians’ pitcher made one mistake to Duda, leaving a changeup high in the zone, and Duda deposited it over the right field wall. Today it wasn’t just the Duda show the whole offense was clicking. They managed to collect 11 hits and nine walks for a season high 15 runs. A bit of a cause for concern as Kirk Nieuwenhuis had to leave the game in the 3rd inning after aggravating his injured shoulder swinging the bat. He looked to be in considerable discomfort. The extent of the injury is unknown at this point.
It was a very well pitched game on all ends. Pat Misch did pitch into trouble on numerous occasions, but never let anything get out of hand. He finally earned his first win of the season.

Stars of the Game: 1. Lucas Duda (1-for-3, 3 R, HR, 2 RBI, 2 BB) (39pts) 2. Fernando Martinez (2-for-4, 2 R, 2 RBI) (19pts) 3. Luis Hernandez (2-for-5, 2B, HR, R, 5 RBI) (5pts)

Binghamton Mets 3 | Harrisburg Senators 7

Brandon Moore did a bad job limiting the damage early on and made it difficult for the B-Mets to battle back. He caused some long innings and allowed the Senators to keep the runs coming. He allowed a run to score in each of the first three innings, had an easy 4th inning, but then gave up another run in the 5th. It was not a good outing for him at all. How many more outings does Eric Niesen have left in his Mets career. At this rate I can’t think it will be too many more and at the very least this is likely his last season with them.

Allan Dykstra‘s hot streak continued. He picked up his 6th homerun of the year and in the last 10 games is batting .333/.444/.433 with seven RBIs and a 6:9 BB:K. It has been an imperfect season by far, but a very encouraging one at that for him. The organization must really hate Josh Satin to keep him in Double-A.

Stars of the Game: 1. Allan Dykstra (1-for-4, HR, R, RBI, 2 K) (27pts) 2. Eric Campbell (1-for-3, 2B, R, RBI, K) (12pts) 3. Jordany Valdespin (1-for-4, RBI, SB) (22pts)

St. Lucie Mets 0 | Charlotte Stone Crabs 4

Armando Rodriguez had his best outing since returning from the DL in the end of May. Outside of the 1st inning he was outstanding. After a leadoff double Jefry Marte committed his 12th error of the year on a routine groundball to set the stage for the inning. The Stone Crabs baserunners executed a double steal of second and third and a bad throw by Juan Centeno brought the run home and moved the runner to third. This was significant because the next batter tapped a groundball back to the pitcher that allowed the second run in the inning to score. After that Rodriguez was fine. Four walks and two hit batters by Kyle Allen. Yeah not exactly a performance to write home about yet again for the struggling righty.

The offense was stifled by the opposing pitcher. They were held to just five hits and no walks. Juan Lagares was the only batter to reach base multiple times and Stefan Welch picked up the only extra base hit.

Stars of the Game: 1. Juan Lagares (2-for-3, HBP) (30pts) 2. Stefan Welch (1-for-4, 2B, K) (21pts) 3. Armando Rodriguez (L, 4 IP, 2 R, 1 ER, 3 H, BB, 2 SO)

Savannah Sand Gnats 5 | Augusta GreenJackets 3

Another start for Gonzalez German that lasted six innings. He just continues to rack up the innings. Today was a very good outing for German who set a season high by striking out eight batters and still walked none. As good as he was he needed Cory Vaughn to bail him out in the 6th inning. With a run already on the board in the inning and two outs and a man on second a single was hit to Vaughn who made a superb throw to nail the runner at home.

The Sand Gnats had a great opportunity in the 1st inning with bases loaded and no outs, but failed to score any runs with a fielder’s choice and double play off the bat of Aderlin Rodriguez. The Gnats didn’t have another good chance until the 7th inning. In the inning the Gnats didn’t have anything other than a single or walk, but managed to put five runs on the board. They scored two runs and had five men reach safely before an out was even recorded then Aderlin Rodriguez got his second chance with the bases loaded and saw one run score on a wild pitch than brought home the remaining two men with a clutch two out single.
Stars of the Game: 1. Aderlin Rodriguez (2-for-4, 2 RBI) (29pts) 2. Darrell Ceciliani (3-for-5, 2B, R, RBI, K) (25pts) 3. Gonzalez German (6 IP, 8 H, 3 R, 2 ER, 8 SO) (4pts)
