Santa Claus stopped by Queens this year and left a handful of large, shiny presents under the Christmas tree — most recently in the form of new manager Buck Showalter.

As we celebrate Christmas and approach the end of the year, there’s a lot to be grateful for and excited about if you’re a Mets fan. No one needs reminding of the frustrations from the past several years (or the majority of the franchise’s history, for that matter), but they’re finally appearing to turn things around. In addition to the recently anointed manager Showalter, they’ve got a new owner and a new general manager who have already acquired players such as Starling Marte, Mark Canha and Eduardo Escobar.

Oh yeah, and this other guy named Max Scherzer.

Despite the current lockout, the 2021 holidays have been a joyous time for Mets fans. Here at Metsmerized Online, we’ve been seeing lots of hype and excitement from fans and followers on Twitter, so we wanted to highlight just a few of them to spread some Christmas cheer and positivity.

Janet Summers says that this hire is a game changer in the NL East! She thinks that Showalter is a “no nonsense, no excuses type of guy” with accountability, who is going to “run this team in the right direction.” We love the enthusiasm!

This “depressed Failcons and WMETS fan” doesn’t sound like he or she is going to be depressed for much longer. He/she is loving the hire after seeing this clip from Showalter’s introductory press conference on Tuesday!

This fan already designed a “The Buck Starts Here” T-shirt. Love to see it!

Can’t deny the facts. Matt makes a fair point!

Christmas came early this year, according to Brian. So does that mean today is the second Christmas of the year?

In reaction to the news, NY Sports Guy says that he’s “tickled pink,” but then quickly corrects himself to say “tickled blue and orange!” That’s the spirit!

Last but not least, here’s some more excitement from Mets minor leaguer Jake Mangum, journalist Rich Eisen and former Mets manager Bobby Valentine.

Safe to say, there’s a lot of excitement surrounding this hire and the state of the Mets overall. Let’s hope this good fortune carries over into the new year! Merry Christmas, Mets fans!
