According to Ken Rosenthal of Fox Sports, the New York Mets have been semi-engaged in the trade market for a new center fielder.

Rosenthal specifically mentions Pittsburgh Pirates outfielder Andrew McCutchen as someone they’ve kept tabs on, but haven’t yet had any momentum in these discussions.

Other names mentioned in the article include both Kansas City Royals outfielders Jarrod Dyson and Lorenzo Cain. The Mets and Royals talked during the winter meetings, but the Mets see Dyson as another Lagares type and Cain only gives them a one-year solution.

Of course, one of the biggest obstacles in getting a new center fielder includes that they would have to trade away two of their current outfielders, most likely Curtis Granderson and Jay Bruce. Which means they could possibly need three separate deals to get an upgrade in center, making it seem unlikely.
