Jon Heyman of Fancred reports that the Mets are “very aggressive” on J.T. Realmuto and are debating whether or not they should part with Amed Rosario or Noah Syndergaard (likely to be traded to the Yankees in that scenario) as their means to acquire the backstop.

Jon Heyman of Fancred reports that the Mets are working on two different trade options, at least, that would lead to them acquiring J.T. Realmuto.
One of them is the extremely talked about proposal that would send Noah Syndergaard to the Yankees, Realmuto to the Mets, and a combination of prospects and young players to the Marlins.
Heyman also notes that while the Mets like both Brandon Nimmo and Michael Conforto, the latter is the one that is more entrenched in the untouchable category.
James Wagner of the New York Times writes that the Mets are considering a scenario as well that would send Amed Rosario and a prospect to the Marlins for Realmuto and then the team would sign a defensive-minded stopgap for the shortstop position until top prospect Andres Gimenez is ready.
Joel Sherman of the New York Post reports that there is another team to keep an eye on in this Realmuto sweepstakes, with the San Diego Padres being told by the Marlins front office that they have the “prospect inventory” to get a deal done.
That is an interesting team to note because they could theoretically make sense to serve as a third team to facilitate a three-team deal as they have been very interested in Noah Syndergaard since this past summer.
