lucas duda

According to Jon Heyman of Today’s Knuckleball, the New York Mets will indeed tender arbitration eligible Lucas Duda a contract for the 2017 season.

The Mets first baseman is projected to make $6.7 million through arbitration for the upcoming season per MLBTR. Duda played in just 47 games this season because of a stress fracture in his back. He hit .229/.302/.412 with seven doubles and seven home runs in 172 plate appearances in 2016.

Despite the possible injury concerns going forward it makes sense for the Mets to tender Duda given his .246/.344/.474 slash line since becoming the Mets everyday first baseman in 2014.
