Mets assistant GM John Ricco told the media this afternoon that the Mets are “still engaged” and are “still having dialogue with some teams” on a Jacob deGrom trade.

However, Ricco added that the team loves the big righty and in order to move him in a trade “it would take an awful lot.”

Early last week deGrom sent out a message through his agent, expressing his desire to remain a Met long-term.

“Jacob has expressed interest in exploring a long-term partnership that would keep him in a Mets uniform for years to come,” CAA’s Brodie van Wagenen told reporters.

DeGrom has been one of, if not, the best pitchers in baseball this year. Through 19 starts, he has a record of 5-4, but leads the league with a stellar 1.68 ERA.
