The Mets DFA’d Josh Edgin earlier today to make room for AJ Ramos on the roster. Certainly comes as a surprise when you consider the fact he has not been the worst pitcher in the bullpen.
Edgin had a 3.65 ERA in 37 innings with the Mets but gave up his share of baserunners. His 6.57 K/9 and his 4.38 BB/9 definitely raised questions about how sustainable his performance was.
He will likely get claimed and perhaps there is a trade in the works for him. But given he still has two more years of control and the Mets have a weak bullpen, this move was still questionable despite his poor peripherals.
