According to the NY Post, the Mets remain interested in Chris Young, but the team denied a report last night that it had made the free-agent right-hander an offer.

Buster Olney of ESPN.com reported via Twitter that the Mets have made an offer to free agent pitcher Chris Young.
Heard this: The Mets’ offer to Chris Young likely includes guaranteed money over $1 million. He’s a good fit for the ballpark.
The Mets have been interested in Young since the Winter Meetings and he was among a small group of starters that included Jeff Francis, Freddy Garcia and Brandon Webb that the Mets were interested in.
Young made just 4 starts last season due to shoulder problems and in 20 innings pitched allowed 10 hits, 11 walks and struck out 15 while positing a 0.90 ERA and a 1.05 WHIP.
In his last full season in 2007, Young made 30 starts and in 176 innings he finished with a 3.12 ERA and 1.09 WHIP.
If he can stay healthy, he would be a big addition to the rotation, but that’s a big if.
I don’t know how much more than $1 million guaranteed the Mets are offering, but if it’s less than $2 million it would be a risk worth taking.
