According to Mike Puma of the New York Post, the Mets are considering bringing back outfielder Jose Bautista in 2019.
Bautista, 37, could still be traded before the Aug. 31 waiver trade deadline, but the team could pursue him in free agency this winter.
The veteran signed on with the Mets in May after being cut loose by the Atlanta Braves.
Since then, he has appeared in 62 games for the Mets, and has hit .215/.364/.390 with six homers and 24 RBI.
Puma adds that a reason New York would bring back Bautista is due to lack of organizational outfield depth.
If Bautista returns, it would likely be in a reserve role.
