New York Mets bullpen coach Ricky Bones is being considered for a position on the Boston Red Sox staff under new manager Alex Cora according to Mike Puma of the New York Post.

Bones has been the Mets bullpen coach since 2012 and was given permission to talk to other teams when it was announced the team would be looking for a new manager.

Bones was the pitching coach for Team Puerto Rico in the World Baseball Classic and Cora was the GM of that team. He also served as a pitching coach in the Mets minor league system for six years including three in Triple-A before becoming the bullpen coach in the majors.

Puma also reports that the Mets would consider bringing back Tim Teufel to the coaching staff after one year as an instructor in the minor leagues. Teufel was the Mets third base coach from 2012 to 2016. He also manage eight seasons in the Mets minor league system.

Glenn Sherlock, who was hired last year, is expected to remain with the club after serving as the third base coach and catching instructor during the 2017 season.

The Mets will likely begin their search for a new pitching coach this week and Dave Eiland is expected to be among the candidates interviewed. Eiland had spent the last six seasons with the Kansas City Royals.

Kevin Long is scheduled to interview for the managerial job with the Washington Nationals and could potentially leave the Mets in need of a hitting coach as well.
