The flurry of Mets pitching transactions this week is continuing, as the team is calling up Ty Adcock and Génesis Cabrera. Chris Devenski and Brandon Waddell are being sent down to Triple-A Syracuse.

To make room for Adcock and Cabrera on the 40-man roster, the Mets have transferred A.J. Minter and Frankie Montas to the 60-day injured list.

Waddell and Devenski both threw multiple innings on Wednesday in their season debuts with New York. Waddell was the bulk guy, pitching admirably in his role, tossing 4 1/3 shutout innings. Devenski struggled in his two innings of work, giving up two runs in the ninth inning.

Adcock gives the Mets a multi-inning option, and perhaps more importantly, Cabrera gives the team a left-handed option, with A.J. Minter and Danny Young out for the long term. Cabrera appeared in 69 games for the Blue Jays in 2024, posting a 3.59 ERA with 50 strikeouts against 29 walks in 62 2/3 innings. So far in Syracuse, he’s given up seven earned runs in eight innings, but he owns a strong 35.3% strikeout rate. Adcock appeared in three games for the Mets in 2024 and has allowed just one run and four hits in seven innings in 2025, walking one and striking out six.

The Mets are currently right in the middle of a stretch of 13 games in 13 days (and 26 games in 27 days), and will not have another off day until May 8th.
