The selection of the next Mets manager has advanced to the next stage, with the club reportedly beginning their third round of interviews as they continue to narrow down the field to eventually pick one final candidate.

As Mike Puma of NY Post reported on Saturday, Luis Rojas has been removed the conversation. While a complete and official list of remaining candidates has not been made publicly available, the known names still left in the hunt appear to be Carlos Beltran, Eduardo Perez, and Tim Bogar.

Derek Shelton’s name has also been mentioned, but it’s unclear whether he’s still in the mix as a serious candidate or not.

While initial reports of Perez being named manager were denied, he is still a very strong possibility for the job and is believed by some to be the frontrunner. Bogar has a very strong case as well though, and brings minor league managerial experience to the table.

Beltran has no coaching experience, but is beloved by Mets fans, players and staff alike, and could make a great leader for this team. People familiar with the situation have reported that his chances are slimmer than the other candidates, though his name has certainly not been ruled out yet at this point.

As the process heats up, it will be interesting to see who makes the final cut as the decision could be made any day now.
