The New York Mets made it official on Tuesday and in conjunction with the LGBT Network, they announced that their first LGBT “Pride Night” will be held on Aug. 13, when they meet the San Diego Padres at Citi Field.

The Mets will donate a portion of the ticket sales through mets.com/pride to support anti-bullying efforts by the LGBT Network.

The New York Mets announced that they will hold their first ever “Pride Night” at Citi Field this season to honor the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender community.

More than 5,000 fans from the LGBT community will be in attendance for the event.

The official date will be announced at a news conference that will be held Tuesday at Queens Borough Hall which will be attended by various Mets officials, local politicians, LGBT Network CEO David Kilmnick and Mr. and Mrs. Met. (Newsday)

Mets executive Vice President Lou DePaoli said in a statement:

“New York is the most diverse and inclusive city in the world, and the Mets welcome all fans throughout the season. We are particularly proud to welcome the LGBT community on Pride Night at Citi Field.”
