The New York Mets today announced the promotional schedule for the 2012 season at Citi Field.  The Mets will give away 490,000 items to fans of all ages and special events will include Banner Day (Sunday, May 27) and the Mets Hall of Fame Induction of John Franco presented by Citi (Sunday, June 3).  Single game tickets go on sale Monday, March 5 at 10:00 a.m. online at Mets.com and by phone at (718) 507-TIXX.

METS 50TH ANNIVERSARY

Magnetic Schedule presented by SNY The Mets will celebrate the start of the franchise’s 50th Anniversary on Opening Day Thursday, April 5 against the Atlanta Braves at 1:10 p.m. with a 2012 magnetic schedule for the first 25,000 fans, courtesy of SNY.

Mets 50th Anniversary Bobblehead Series – The first 25,000 fans in attendance can collect a figurine depicting one of the following iconic Mets from each decade in team history:

  • Tom Seaver presented by Citi – Sunday, April 22 vs. the San Francisco Giants at 1:10 p.m.
  • Rusty Staub presented by GEICO – Saturday, May 26 vs. against the San Diego Padres at 1:10 p.m.
  • Keith Hernandez presented by Gold’s Horseradish – Sunday, June 17 vs. the Cincinnati Reds at 1:10 p.m.
  • Edgardo Alfonzo presented by Verizon – Saturday, July 21 vs. the Los Angeles Dodgers at 1:10 p.m.
  • Mike Piazza – Saturday, August 25 against the Houston Astros at 1:10 p.m.

Collector’s Cup sponsored by Premio – The Mets will give away a special edition Mets 50th Anniversary blue and orange collector’s cup presented by Premio to the first 25,000 fans at the Friday, May 4 game against the Arizona Diamondbacks at 7:10 p.m.

Banner Day A tradition that began in 1963 during the club’s formative years at the Polo Grounds and continued at Shea Stadium through 1996, Banner Day returns to Citi Field on Sunday, May 27 at 1:10 p.m. against San Diego.  The Mets will announce more details about Banner Day including guest judges, prizes and logistics in the weeks leading up to the event.

SPECIAL EVENTS

Mr. Met Dash – Kids 12 and under can run the bases after the game with Mr. Met leading the pack after six Sunday afternoon games (April 22, May 6, June 17, July 8, August 12, August 26), weather permitting.

Mets Hall of Fame Induction presented by Citi John Franco, the Mets franchise saves leader, will be honored and inducted into the Mets Hall of Fame during an on-field, pre-game ceremony Sunday, June 3 at 1:10 p.m. as the Mets face the St. Louis Cardinals. The first 25,000 fans will receive a commemorative cap presented by Citi.

METS MERCHANDISE

Texting Gloves presented by Verizon The first 25,000 fans at the Saturday, April 7 contest against Atlanta at 1:10 p.m. will receive Mets-embroidered texting gloves.

Visor presented by Nathan’s Famous – For the Mets-Cardinals match-up Saturday, June 2 at 4:10 p.m., the first 25,000 fans will receive an orange Mets visor presented by Nathan’s Famous.

Cap Trade presented by Chevrolet The Mets will provide fans the opportunity to trade in their old Mets cap for a new one, courtesy of Chevrolet, during each game of the Subway Series, Friday, June 22 through Sunday, June 24 at Citi Field.  The first 5,000 fans at each game will be able to take advantage of the offer.

Mini Bat presented by GEICO Let the first 25,000 fans swing for the fences with a Mini Bat presented by GEICO Saturday, July 7 when the Mets play the Chicago Cubs at 4:10 p.m.

Mr. Met Poster presented by Xerox – In conjunction with the Mr. Met Dash on Sunday, July 8 against Chicago, the first 25,000 fans will take home a poster featuring baseball’s best mascot, Mr. Met.

Travel Case presented by Delta Air Lines – Take to the skies with your brand new Delta Air Lines travel case for the first 25,000 fans at the Mets-Braves game Saturday, August 11 at 7:10 p.m.

Tote Bag presented by Toyota – The first 25,000 fans at the Sunday, August 12 game against the Braves at 1:10 p.m. will bring home a tote bag, compliments of Toyota.

Today’s announcement of the 2012 promotional schedule is the latest in a series of events tied to the season-long Mets 50th Anniversary celebration including the unveiling of a commemorative logo and redesigned uniforms, the launch of the Mets50.com web site focusing on Mets fans and their memories, and the “50 Days to 50” Twitter promotion.
