The New York Mets (16-13) and Detroit Tigers (10-17) had their game on Tuesday night postponed due to rain. The game will be made up as a part of a split doubleheader on Wednesday, with Game 1 starting at 1:40 PM ET, and Game 2 starting at 6:40 PM.

The pitching matchups for both games haven’t changed due to the weather. Joey Lucchesi faces left-hander Joey Wentz in Game 1, and Max Scherzer takes the mound for the first time since being suspended in Los Angeles against Michael Lorenzen in Game 2.

Tuesday night’s rain-out was the third game that has been postponed for the Mets in the last four days. While it’s unfortunate for the fans, it may have been a blessing in disguise due to the Mets’ schedule. New York only has three days off in May, with the next one on May 8.

The Mets have played one double-header this season, which was on Monday against the Atlanta Braves. The Mets split the two games, winning the second game after Francisco Álvarez hit a go-ahead two-run double in the eighth inning.

While winning two in one day isn’t easy, the Mets should take care of business against Detroit in both games. Entering today, the Tigers have the lowest run total in baseball (88) and the 29th overall team OPS (.628). To make matters worse, the Tigers also pitch horrendously and own a 4.80 team ERA (23rd in MLB).

Enjoy the night off, Mets fans. There’s going to be a lot of baseball to watch tomorrow.
