It’s no secret to anyone who has watched baseball last season that the Mets need bullpen help. Could Dellin Betances be it? Well… maybe.

Betances name has been floating around as a Mets possibility for a while. They made their interest in him known last month. Now, the Mets may be one step closer to signing the right-handed pitcher.

Monday night, Jack Curry stated that Betances is “likely to pitch somewhere else in 2020” and noted that both the Mets and the Phillies are heavily contending for him. Watch the full clip of the video here:

Do we ever want to lose to the Phillies? In this instance, this question may be a tough one. Needless to say, we don’t want them adding to their bullpen as ours stays stagnant.

I know, Betances is coming off of an injury plagued year and it’s hard to fully bank on him, but take a further look at his past numbers. No, he solely will not be the one to save the Mets bullpen in its entirety (Seth Lugo still has that weight on his shoulders!) but he’s a gamble — and that can go either way.
