The New York Mets finished April with the best record in the league, and a pair of their players are taking home hardware as a result of their contributions.

MLB announced on Friday that Pete Alonso was named the National League Player of the Month for March/April, while Luisangel Acuña earned National League Rookie of the Month honors.

Alonso, who returned to the Mets as a free agent on a two-year, $54 million deal with an opt-out after the current season, led all qualified hitters in the NL with a .474 on-base percentage and 212 wRC+ through April 30 while tying for the most fWAR with 2.1. He also tacked on seven home runs to go alongside a .343 batting average and .657 slugging percentage.

As for Acuña, he slashed .288/.342/.356 with a 102 wRC+, seven stolen bases and a 0.4 fWAR while appearing in 27 games and taking 79 plate appearances. He’s currently tied for the second-most fWAR among qualified NL rookies while being tied with Dylan Crews of the Washington Nationals for the most stolen bases.

Acuña did appear in 14 contests and take 40 trips to the plate in 2024, but he did not exhaust his eligibility and therefore is still considered a rookie this season.
