josh-edgin

As expected, the Mets announced LHP Josh Edgin has been recalled from Triple-A Las Vegas and will be in the the bullpen for Thursday’s Subway Series finale and will wear uniform No. 66.

He of course replaces Kyle Farnsworth.

Edgin was 3-0 with a 4.97 ERA in 17 appearances for Las Vegas and allowed 16 hits and 11 walks while striking out 12 in 12.2 innings.

Last season with the Mets, the southpaw was 1-1 with a save and a 3.77 ERA in 28.2 innings over 34 appearances.

The Mets have released righthanded reliever Kyle Farnsworth, who up until three days ago was given a vote of confidence by Terry Collins as the team’s closer.

Farnsworth signed a 45-day consent waiver and the Mets had until Saturday to release him and only have to pay him for 45 days, saving them $750,000.

He could choose an assignment to Vegas, but that’s highly unlikely.

When asked if he was bitter, Farnsworth responded, “Yes, really bitter. Hopefully I find a team to play against this team.”

Looks like Josh Edgin will be added to the active roster.
