The Mets announced on Friday that they’ve activated J.D. Davis from the 60-day injured list and designated outfielder Billy McKinney for assignment.
Davis, 28, was hitting .390/.479/.610 in 14 games with the Mets when he went down with a left hand sprain. He had seven extra base hits in 10 games during his rehab assignment for the Triple-A Syracuse Mets.
Davis is not in the lineup tonight, Jonathan Villar is getting the start at third base.
McKinney, 26, was acquired in a trade with the Brewers in May that sent minor leaguer Pedro Quintana to Milwaukee. The left-handed hitter slashed .222/.304/.473 with five home runs in 39 games for the Mets.
