The New York Mets announced that they have acquired Eric Young Jr. from the Atlanta Braves for cash considerations.

Young, 30, will report to Triple-A Las Vegas and will likely rejoin the team after September 1.

He batted .169 with a .229 on-base percentage, no home runs and five RBIs in 35 games in the majors this season.

Over two seasons with the Mets, Young batted .242 with a .289 on-base percentage in 734 plate appearances. He stole 68 bases while with the Mets and was caught just 13 times.

Young has played mostly left field and second base over the last few seasons.
