The Mets are acquiring center fielder Jake Marisnick from the Astros according to Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic.

Jeff Passan of ESPN reports that the Mets have sent left-handed pitcher Blake Taylor and 19-year-old outfielder Kenedy Corona to the Astros.

Taylor, originally acquired by the Mets in deal for Ike Davis, was recently added to the Mets’ 40-man roster after a good 2019 season. He posted a 2.16 ERA, 1.10 WHIP, and 10.0 K/9 over 66 2/3 innings as a reliever in 2019. He also shined in the Arizona Fall League where he had his fastball up to 96 MPH.

Corona hit .301/.398/.470 with 14 doubles, four home runs, and 19 stolen bases in his pro debut during the 2019 season. He started the season in the Dominican Summer League and finished with the Brooklyn Cyclones.

Marisnick, 28, is known for his defense in center with five defensive runs saved and eight outs above average there in 733 innings last season. The right-handed hitter slashed .233/.289/.411 with 16 doubles, three triples, 10 home runs, and 10 stolen bases in 318 plate appearances in 2019. He also struck out 95 times.

He will be a free agent after the 2020 season and is expected to make $3 million through arbitration for his final season of control. Marisnick was a teammate of new Mets manager Carlos Beltran and J.D. Davis in Houston.

Mets GM Brodie Van Wagenen said earlier in the offseason that the Mets would be looking to acquire a defensive minded center fielder that hits right-handed, Marisnick fits that mold.
